I made three "hikes" on the last days of October. Last year, autumn was approximately two weeks later than usual, this year a few days earlier. On October 30/31, most trees were already naked. The first hike was only an afternoon hike to the Sophienalpe in Vienna (Stadtwanderweg 8). I think the photos that I took during this hike are the most successful ones on Fediverse, even though the landscape is not so spectacular - but the Wienerwald is always very nice at the end of October. I like to post here the photos that are not so successful on Fediverse, but so far I only posted a few and all of them are quite popular... I think the least successful one is this:
But it will also be among the 10+ shares.
I think the walk at the Türkenschanzpark was even before the hike to the Sophienalpe. I went there with my photographer friends. But those pics also seem to be quite popular, akthough so far I only posted two on Pixelfed.
And on October 30 I finally went up to the Jauerling. I chose the safe part of the Welterbesteig from Maria Laach to the Naturparkhaus and back on the same way. This hike is definitely highly recommended and easy. It's approximately 500 meters uphill and downhill, but there are no (very) steep parts. Landscape-wise, the trail from Mühldorf over the Trenning is probably more spectacular, nevertheless you have the really awesome view at the end without any danger. The part from Maria Laach to the Jauerling seems to be long, especially if you choose the same way back, but it is comfortably walkable in a day, I think I even had to wait almost two hours for the bus.
This pic is very nice but it's actually really not so popular on Pixelfed, it did not get 10 shares:
By the way, there is also a lookout, but walking up to the top is not really worth the effort.
I still have to edit a lot of photos from these hikes and walks... and even the one from Spitz to Mühldorf. I am kind of lazy. Right now I am using ART (Alberto's RawTherapee), I think I will write an article about it. I would like to shoot again, I haven't been hiking for almost two weeks, but the weather is not nice.
Right now I am in Budapest. I discovered that Hungary is actually a good destination for hiking. Hungary has no high mountains or a sea, most people think it is boring for hikers and flat, but that is not the case. Hovever, the problem is the weather right now and the season which is not photogenic at all. I would like to make one or two hikes here, but I am not sure if it will be possible, I don't even know how long I will be here. But I am happy that I have good internet, much better upload speed than at home. I bought a tiny mobile router and put a sim card into it yesterday. First it looked like the sim slot was broken but a kid at Media Markt was able to insert it. Before him, me and two other people tried. That was really annoying...
I think I am turing towards a different kind of landscape photography where the emphasis is on composition and less on spectacular landscapes.
